Life is Better when you are laughing...Quick Quotes and Canon

Hello, Quick Quotes readers.   Alicia with you today and I am still scrapping my wedding album.  I used several Quick Quotes paper packs to create the two layouts I am sharing today.  I used elegant and richly colored pieces to accentuate the stained glass window in the venue.  I also relied on my Cricut for the various shapes cut from the paper.

I used my Canon PIXMA iP8720 13x19 Wireless Printer to print the vibrant 5x7 photos.

Details of the layers of paper, ribbon and pearls.

On my second layout I used some manual cutting tools to cut several of the layers but still included Cricut cuts.  Since both of these layouts featured the stain glass window I wanted to keep some embellishments the same.  Layering the pearls and other embellishments on top of the die cuts really make the layers of Quick Quotes paper pop!

I thought I would share some helpful hints on printing the best photographs with your Canon printer.  Find your Printer properties or Printer preferences and adjust your settings to fit your print job.  My print program defaults to a standard 8.5x11 paper print.  I often use that setting so I don't want to permanently change that setting.  However, I have adjusted the setting for my photography printing and saved those settings which makes it so easy to get great photos every time.  You can see from my collage below that the 5x7 photo print is saved with high quality settings.

Walking in a Winter Winterland and Atlantic Hearts Challenge

Good morning!  I am sharing my inspiration for the latest Atlantic Hearts Challenge sketch.  Frankly, I have no ideas where these papers came from, they were 6x6 and just in my stash.  These two prints and no other matching??  If you recognize them let me know below.  That said I am pleased with these prints, sentiment and embellishments.  I think it turned out very nice.  I don't often use red and light blue together.

Here's the sketch:

A close up of my simple sentiment.

Ingredients:

TPC Studio Winter Blues
Stampin Up Blue Bayou ink and felt snowflakes

Southern Fried Squash Recipe layout

Here is another food project for my guest designing position over at The Awesome Ladies Project.  This prompt this time was recipe.  I don't have many recipes of my own.  I mostly borrow from my mother with modifications for vegetarian.  This is certainly top of my comfort food list.  The way my momma fries squash and okra can't be beat.  There is no egg wash so it is a light crumbly crust that does not fully cover the vegetable.  It is definitely a learned skill.  Just like the gravy I don't make enough.  My son has a fondness for this recipe so my skills are pretty good.

It's not the prettiest but taste wonderful!  I used some nesting punches to punch the floral pattern from one of the papers to create embellishments to match.

Ingredients:
Kiwi Lane templates
misc papers from stash
Bazzill shimmer card stock
American Craft paper
Mocha Moma Quick Quotes Powderpuff chalking ink
Stampin Up scallop punches
Zig brown pen
pearls

Favorite Places to eat mini album

Here is another food project for my guest designing position over at The Awesome Ladies Project.  This prompt was favorite places to eat/where you eat.  I decided to create a mini album of my favorite restaurants...I soon realized these are also all in my neighborhood, most within walking distance.

My first tag is the Drunken Bento.  Half price sushi all the time.  They also serve Korean dishes.  My husband really enjoys the galbi, a Korean style BBQ short rib.  I always eat sushi.

I used Maya Road Sushi stamp set and Distress inks to create the base of this page.

Just across the street from Drunken Bento is Thai Express.  Thai Express was one of my very first favorite restaurants in the neighborhood.  It was only two blocks from my first apartment here in Cincinnati.  They have a designated pan for vegetarian dishes.  I like Pad Thai and Massaman Curry.  The spring rolls are crisp and light not thick and greasy like egg rolls.  I also like the mango salad.

On the same block is Mac's Pizza.  They have several great nights of specials.  Monday is $5 burgers (including a homemade veggie burger) and family favorite $5 Pizza Thursdays.  My favorite pizza is a grape Gorgonzola.  It has a garlic sauce, grapes, tomatoes, onions and almonds with Gorgonzola. It is divine!!!

The next block down has the Elephant Walk, a combination of Indian and Ethiopian food.  I prefer Indian but am in love with injera, yum!  On this tag I used shimmer mist and added some tabs to divide the two different foods.

Conscious Kitchen used to be on the same block as the first group but recently moved a mile or so away to a new location.  It is spacious and new.  CK is soul food with turkey and fish.  The signature sandwich is the salmon Cuban...I had never had a Cuban before.  It is a my absolute favorite sandwich with a side of spring rolls or onion rings.

I finally finished the album with dessert.  Cincinnati's local chain, United Dairy Farmers or UDF.  This photo is from back in the summer showing a special flavor using a local beer Rhinegeist Truth.

I used Distress Oxides on this tag with a bit of pearl shimmer spray.
Colors:  Worn Lipstick and Twisted Citron
Stamp:  Stampin Up Honeycomb Happiness

I lined the back of each tag with a matching card stock or paper.  All the edges were inked with Quick Quotes Midnight Confession Powderpuff chalking ink,  I finalized the album with various fibers tied on the ring.

Quick Quotes Gratitude card

Good morning Quick Quotes readers, Alicia here today.  I have a card of gratitude to inspire you.  I used several subtle techniques to accentuate the soft and lovely Harmony 101 paper.

The first technique I used was masking.  Here are the steps I used to create the image:
  1. Stamp image multiple times using a platform with Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking inks insures a dark clean image
  2. Stamp the same image on masking tape or sticky note paper
  3. Fussy cut the image and place exactly over the stamped image
  4. Layer the second image on the platform over the first image
  5. Stamp image multiple times to insure a crisp image
  6. Remove masking to reveal combined image

I inked up all the edges with Warm Gray PowderPuff Chalking Ink  and finished off the card with a ribbon and some sequins.  I like to drop pearly drops inside the sequins for a final touch.
