Happy New Year!

I love making cover photos for my Facebook page with Creative Memories Storybook Creator.  I plan on upgrading to the Panstoria Artisan program soon but for now SBC works just fine.  I got the formula for creating timelines with this program on FB originally.  Essentially, I created a project in my program with page sizes of 4x10 and just past 5/8's mark.  Then I set up markers at 2.25 horizontally and 2.75 vertically, this marks off your profile picture so you know anything in that corner will not be seen on your cover.  After that is is simply a matter of decorating your page and uploading to FB.  It makes it easy to have a new cover every month.  I am sure knowing the dimensions you can create this in whatever digital software you may use.  Thanks for stopping by, Happy New Year!!!

Mojo Monday Challenge Sketch using Brown and Blue

I am in full swing of creating Thank you cards for my wedding gifts now that Christmas and birthday's are over for a while.  I took Mojo Monday's sketch and turned it around then used Allsorts color challenge and Cuttin and Stampin's Anything goes with leftovers challenge and created these simple yet elegant cards.  I used some scraps from the Paper Loft's In the Zone cardstock and cut it up with a Stampin Up punch and Stampin Up Sizzix Top Note diecut.  I used a SU matching Thank you stamp and embossed it with Judikin's Chocolate Twinkle embossing powder.  I chalked the edges and added some American Craft brown glitter ribbon.  It looked a little plain so I added 3 little bitty brown bling.

I cut the opposite papers for the second card and used a DCWV Old World ribbon.  I used SU Not Quite Navy craft ink and embossed the image.  To dress this one up a bit, I added a button with floss.

I am entering these cards in the following challenges:

If you have arrived here from somewhere else start with Robin's blog at http://create-a-latte.blogspot.com.  Happy Birthday to Robin and my niece Hana who is 15!
I wanted to participate in the hop because yesterday was my birthday and today is my niece's birthday!  So many family birthday's in December.  If you follow my blog you have seen my mother's and sister's birthday cards and my sister has two daughters with December birthdays plus myself makes 5!  Whew not easy on the wallet for our family this month!  Good thing I like to make gifts and watch soon and you will see what I made for my wonderful nieces.  For today, I made some birthday cards with The Paper Loft Everyday Life collection.  I used the Close to My Heart Artiste Cricut cartridge with matching stamps from Casual Expressions.  I used Stampin Up Bayou Blue ribbon and ink.  The red is from Colorbox Terracotta.

The bicycle paper is "like riding a bike".  I also used the Paper Loft solid colors:  "believe in miracles" (red) and "sky's the limit" (blue) to cut the Cricut shapes.

The striped paper is "no excuses", the yellow is "forward progress", the red is "live your dream".

SU Bayou Blue cardstock and ink with a paper leaf tucked in.  The yellow paper is the reverse of "believe in miracles".

When the Rooster Crows Card

The card I made today is kind of an anything goes card.  I am a little burnt out on Christmas cards and birthday cards (so many birthdays in December).  I used for the first time a Lifestyle crafts embossing folder.  For the banner I used My Mind's Eye Howdy Doody Baby stamp set and Colorbox Cocoa.  For the words I used TPC Roosters set and SU Riding Hood Red.  The rooster was fussy cut from Recollections Rooster Provincial paper.  I inked the embossing to make it stand out and added a strip of mesh, washi tape and AC ribbon.

This was the one different card in this set:

I went with more of a mother hen, kitchen type of look with this one.  Still used the washi tape in the button banner!  The stamp is also from the same My Mind's Eye set.

Cookies for Santa Blog Hop

Yummy!!! Welcome to the Cookies for Santa Blog Hop!

Hello and thanks for hopping today.  You should have arrived from Sandy's blog http://aworkingmomsjoy.blogspot.com/.  If you did not there is a complete list at the bottom of this post.  You can also go to the beginning http://honeybearzdesigns2011.blogspot.com/.  Thanks to Lisa for hosting another great hop!  Now for my (mom's recipe):

These are my thin mint cookies.  My mother gave me the recipe.  She enjoys trying to duplicate famous recipes.  These are even better than Girl Scout cookies although maybe not as pretty.  I use the block of candy melt from Walmart but the Wilton melting chips at Michael's or Joann's are also fine.  I add more mint than the recipe calls for because it is so good!  My mother did most of the experimentation to get the right recipe.  The base of the cookies are Ritz crackers.  It is imperative to use candy chocolate because regular chocolate will not harden.  Basically, a one pound to one teaspoon peppermint extract, more or less to taste.  Melt the chocolate in the microwave according to the directions on the package. Stir.  Add the peppermint extract and then zap another 30 seconds and do a final stir.  Discard any broken or chipped crackers and dip the rest, one at a time in the chocolate and place on wax paper to harden.  I do this in small batches to not let the chocolate harden during the process.  I am ALWAYS asked to bring these goodies to parties and events at all times of the year, but my mom makes these as a Christmas cookie.  Next up is Nadja:  http://nadjarobbins.blogspot.com/

Happy Birthday to my Sister!

Today is my little sister's birthday and she loves owls!  So this is her birthday card!

The image is Recollections cling stamp I purchased for $1! Isn't he cute?  I stamped it with embossing ink and used Joann's black embossing powder.  I then colored in some sections with Gelly roll pens and a few other glitter pens.  I added some Want2Scrap bling for the branch and a satin ruffle ribbon from Recollections.  The papers are an ivory shimmer, a gunmetal metallic, a lavender velvet and the image is stamped on more ivory shimmer.  The shimmer paper took the inks very well.

This picture is in process, I had used the Gelly roll pen in clear star to color in the eyes.  It is very subtle.

 Both eyes done!

Happy Birthday to my Mother!

Today is my Mother's birthday, so I created her a very special card.

I used a Graphic 45 Spritz Screen with Versamagic chalks in Spanish Olive, Aegean Blue, and Sahara Sand on ivory shimmer paper.  I stamped an Inkadinkadoo sentiment from the All you need is Love set with embossing ink and Stampin Up Forest Green embossing powder on Creative Memories paper and cut it and embossed it with Spellbinders Petite Scallop Circle Large.  I added some lace and pins from Hobby Lobby.  The ceramic flower is Recollections.  I matted this on TPC Peach Shimmer and cut all corners with a Creative Memories fancy corner rounder.

Inside of the card is no simple sentiment but a vellum envelope full of birthday wishes!  I stamped these with Stampin Up That's the ticket and used the SU ticket punch to punch them out.  I used the same Versamagic chalks as on the screen.

The paper square with the mom on it is from K & Co.  I cut some strips of hem tape from Joann's.

Thanks for checking out my card today!

Letterpress Technique Christmas Cards

I am still finishing up with some of the ideas I had during the Honeybearz Designs 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop.  This is another letterpress technique card for the challenge over at Scrapbook Blessings Club.

I used the cutest little clothes pins that I purchased at Michael's over the Black Friday weekend with the additional sale coupon on top of the 40% off, it made for a great deal!  I hung the Tim Holtz kraft resist embellishments from an EK Success fiber and added a K & Co Christmas Cheer silver and gold brad.

I like how all the brads are silver and gold!

The embossing folder is from a Sizzix Christmas two pack and I used American Craft pigment ink in Pine.  The mat is Bazzil Pomegranate cardstock.

I usually have a "prototype" or one card that is different that the rest because I am experimenting.  Here's the one for this set:  I decided against embossing the red paper, the color shoes up so much better on the kraft.

Snowboarding & Sketch n Scrap Sketch #46

Today's Layout is based on this month's first Sketch and Scrap scrapbook layout sketch.

I continued the layout from yesterday of my son's 11th birthday at Perfect North Slopes skiing and snowboarding.  He had a blast and we have done it again since.  So I have used the same paper and diecuts including the CTMH cricut cut of arrow from the  Artbooking cart with coordinating stamp and Creative Memories snowflake punches.  I didn't have four photos and I trimmed them down as much as I could, so my layout has three pictures but they are still in a stepping stone pattern. To this one I added American craft orange baker's twine.  The orange and black paper as well as the sticker letters are Creative Memories.

Let it Snow Blog Hop!

Welcome! to the Let it Snow Blog Hop!  What a day, if you are like most of the country you probably are having a snowy day!  Here in Cincinnati, we have our first big snow of the year!  Perfect weekend for this hop!  You should have arrived here from Aisha's http://londonskyedesigns.net.  If not, go back to Lisa's http://honeybearzdesigns2011.blogspot.com/ and start from the beginning.  If you get lost, I have listed the entire lineup at the bottom of the post.

For today's blog hop I created a snowy layout based on the Boy Meets Girl Sketch for December.  I used some snowboard paper and matching diecuts I purchased at Tuesday Morning, it has Carol Wilson Fine Arts printed on the back.  I then layered white cardstock and my pictures.  I used the CTMH Artbooking Cricut cart to cut the arrows out of Creative Memories orange paper and used the matching CTMH stamp and Gem black pigment ink square.  I also used CM punches and some random printed blue paper to punch out a couple of different snowflakes and CM sticker letters for the title.  I layered Mandarin and Ebony sassy font.   Finally, I inked everything with a very thin line of black, not my usual grungy edging.

Close up of the punched snowflakes, title and diecuts.

This is outside my door last night after just about 3 or 4 hours of snow.  We should have about 5 inches this morning!
