Stick it Down Sweet as Honey card

Good morning readers!   I hope you are having a beautiful day!  I was guest designer at Stick It Down for the double page sketch.  I promise I did not have early access to this card sketch.  But I found it irresistible and just had to try my hand.  I immediately wanted to try it with my new SU Honeycomb die.

I used a variety of stamps from SU and CTMH to "fill" my honeycombs.  Some are stamped on the bottom white card stock, some are embossed from the die, some are stamped and punched and a few are on pop dots giving this simple card lots of dimension.  The sentiment is also popped up so that it would sit well on the ribbon.

Here's the sketch:

Stampin Up/Sizzix Honeycomb die
Creative Memories hex punch
Stampin Up Honeycomb Hello stamp set
Close to my heart Honeycomb stamp set
Stampin Up Summer Sun ink
Quick Quotes Desert Sun chalking ink

Quick Quotes Finish Line layout with Powderpuff Chalking Inks

Good morning Quick Quotes readers!  Alicia posting today with an athletic layout featuring Quick Quotes Powderpuff Chalking inks and stencils.  I had so much fun using stencils and powderpuff chalking inks on my cards for this month's challenge, I thought I would move to a larger project.

  • begin with a 12x12 white piece of card stock
  • tape down the stencil securely
  • begin with the lightest color and go darker
  • outline some stenciled images for neater lines

By outlining the edges of the stenciled arrow I really sharpened the look.  I added all kinds of punched arrows and arrow brads all pointing toward the finish line!

Finally, a little doodling and dots finishes off the layout.

Quick Quotes products used:

Here is a layout using a TBT sketch from Sketch N Scrap!  This month has 5 Thursday's so I will have one more next week and I do believe it will also be of my Red River Gorge trip.  But I did take some lovely pics, I hope you don't mind seeing tons!

Wedding Layout for Stick it Down Guest Designer double page sketch

I was asked to be a Guest Designer for winning a monthly challenge over at Stick it Down,  I was so excited when presented with their sketch.  I knew immediately I would use it with my wedding photos.

One page at a time is a better view.  The two page view doesn't do this layout justice.  I delicately sprayed the shimmer card stock base with two different gold spray inks to provide depth.

These are some pearl embossed Heartfelt Creations flowers on white shimmer paper.  I ever so lightly chalked the edges with Quick Quotes Antique Linen and Green Leaf on the leaves.  I topped them off with some brushed gold sequins and a dot of  pearl from a Viva Decor pearl pen.  I also randomly added some sequins and pearl pen around the layout.

Second Page:

I used a border maker punch and threaded a sheer white ribbon through the gold paper.  I also used a pretty white resin flower for the "o".  I rarely substitute for a letter, but often see it and love the idea.  I hope I pulled it off.  These letters are cut with my Cricut from the same white shimmer paper but with no gold ink.

Some of the banners and the photo mats are from the same paper as I created the candy boxes with in the photo.  In fact I created all my decorations except the floral arrangements which my mom made.  As you may notice the layout is the same colors that I used in my wedding:  gold, white and purple. Even the candies on the candy bar were only those colors.

Misc papers from my stash:  shimmers, printed and vellum
Marvy border punch
Stampin Up sheer ribbon white
Smooch gold spray ink
Tattered Angels Walnut gold spray ink
Prima embellishments
Heartfelt Creations stamps and matching Spellbinders dies
Versamark and Ranger silver pearl embossing powder

Graphic 45 Design Team Audition 2016

Hello, today I am taking a huge leap and applying for a position on the Graphic 45 Design Team.  I have been in love with Graphic 45 since I discovered them at Mega Meet several years ago.  I snatched up a few paper pads on that first introduction and have been collecting ever since.  Yes, collecting!  I save my precious Graphic 45 papers for my best pictures and projects.  Here's one brand new project and a couple of favorites from the past year to share.

Project #1

I pulled out quite a few collections for this new layout using photographs from a recent fashion exhibit I attended at the Cincinnati Art Museum.  These pics could not have been scrapped with any other papers but Graphic 45.  I used some Graphic 45 stamps on this layout as well.  I drew inspiration from the fabric used in the garments.  The textile designer is Arthur Silver from England and the designer is Liberty & Co. circa 1915.

I used a green pigment ink with two different color embossing powders.  I tried to hit just the "eye" with Judikins Avocado twinkle and the rest of the feather with SNS Root beer fizz.  I liked the way they turned out.  I thought tearing the edges added an element of distress instead of fussy cutting.

I sprayed white flowers with spray ink and layered with wallpaper sample punches and bling to create matching flowers.  Black bling flourishes finish off the flowers.  My favorite crafting tip: EVERYTHING is distressed generously with chalking ink this time: Quick Quotes Midnight Confession.

Graphic 45 papers: Renaissance Faire Enlightened & Florentine
Once Upon A Springtime Enchanted Forest
Le Cirque Flying High
A Perfect Gentleman Dashing & Debonair
Curtain Call Tags & Borders
Graphic 45 stamps:  Curtain Call and more
red card stock and wallpaper samples
Tattered Angels Chalkboard spray ink in Ferrari Red
Brilliance Graphite black ink
Judikins Black detail, Garnet  & Avocado twinkle embossing powder
Anna Griffin green chalkboard ink
Sparkle N Sprinkle Root beer fizz embossing powder
International postage stamps, bling, a button, and strings of sequins
Stampin Up scalloped circle punch
Spellbinders deckeled rectangles, label one, gold label one
peacock feathers, doily inked with black spray ink and metal charms
Quick Quotes Midnight Confession Powder Puff chalking ink

Project #2

My favorite recent project is this configurations Christmas Tower.  I made this back in November of last year.  I used a Graphic 45 Santa stamp on this project.  It is one of my favorite elements.  This is the first time I added the power of light to a project and using the embossed image on acetate with the light shining through was just beautiful.

Project #3

Another neat project I made last year was a part of an altered letter exchange, here is the original post.  I used Graphic 45 Le Cirque paper for the Cricut cut peacock feathers on this project.  After piecing together I sprayed with shimmer mist.

Finally, here's a project where I do a bit of a tutorial making my Vintage Luggage Pop Up Card.  This project is not perfect but I still like the way it turned out.

Thank you so much for your consideration.

Authentique with Sketch N Scrap card sketch

Good morning!  I am here today with Sketch N Scrap's latest card sketch.  I made this card for a friend who recently lost her husband to cancer.

I embossed the sentiment.  I love how finished an embossed image looks.  My favorite for images to color and a black sentiment is Brilliance Graphite Black (plenty juicy) and Judikins clear detail embossing powder.  Northwoods stamp company actually suggest for a clean black image, half clear detail and half black detail.

Rustique Butterfly in a Spring Garden: Vintage Journey's Guest Designer

I was so excited to be asked to Guest Design for A Vintage Journey based on my pinworthy December project.

December 2015

This month's travel case includes:

Product: Something Metal
Technique: Rust Effects (perhaps using rusting or embossing powders or rust coloured paints)
Colour: Lilac or Pale Purple
Substrate: Board (eg grey board, coaster board, cardboard)

That was quite a combination with which to work!  Here's what I came up with:

I started with a harlequin piece of Tim Holtz grunge board this month's substrate.  I inked it with a multi color pigment ink pad, Brilliance twilight a combination of pearly lilacs and lavenders, perfect for the color in this month's suitcase.  Two ingredients down and two to go.

The next two ingredients are metal and rust.  I took a cue from last month's tutorial and created a butterfly with Judikins Rustique embossing powder.  I have more detail on my blog post about this project.  I started with heavy duty aluminum foil die cut and embossed with a Tim Holtz matching set.  I used embossing ink and layered two different colors of Judikin's rust effect embossing powder: azure and jade.

Here is a die cut butterfly and one I embossed.

I inked it up with Judikins embossing ink and then layered a rustique effect embossing powder.  I layered at least three times with 2 different colors.

The first layer.

I then needed to find a way to combine the two parts of my project.  I thought a nice frame might work and rummaged through my stash.  I love this old frame and I am so happy to give it such a nice new life!  It also gave me the idea of a "garden" since it was already full of greenery and flowers.  I cut down the grunge board to fit the frame and started to embellish.

I wanted to pull more of the colour in this month's suitcase so I added several different lilac ribbons and fibers.  I tied them together with a pretty button and stuck in some pins I received in a swap.

Thanks so much to A Vintage Journey for having me as a Guest Designer this month!
