Sketches in Thyme sketch with scraps

July has really gotten away from me.  I don't think I have had one completely crafty weekend all month...well, maybe one.  So this weekend, after reaching my maximum upload limit on Evernote.  (I have an extreme amount of craft supplies to catalog.)  I have finally gotten a chance to resume some scrapbooking.  Lastly I worked on my honeymoon album, so I thought I would switch it up and work on my 2013 vacation.  I was searching through sketches to use and found this one and immediately had the idea for the heart sketched behind this picture.  I loved the way it turned out.  I must credit my sister for the photo.  We took this vacation together and I used a lot of her photos.  She has a great camera and I was lucky enough to take photos with it during this vacation, too.  These are her and her husbands hand prints and wedding rings.

Here's the sketch I used from Sketches in Thyme:

Close ups
You can make out a little of the orange flecks that were in this sand.  I used some coral and orange papers to highlight the unique color.  We were on Ocean Isle in North Carolina.

Creative Memories CCS heart templates (for tracing)
Tattered Angels Cork & Copper Penny shimmer spray inks
Prima marker A94 umber
Distress marker frayed burlap

Heartfelt Creations Delightful Daisies Thanks Bunches Emboss Resist with Distress inks

I created this card for a swap.  The swap was for images and we needed to make one card using the images.  I initially stamped these to be cut out but as I examined the piece I decided I could make it into a background as it was.  I also included some of the flowers in the swap.  I used my Heartfelt Creations Delightful Daisies for this set.  I didn't cut them out as we were to send the images on 4.25x5.5 sheets.

Ingredients:
Heartfelt Creations Delightful Daisies stamps and dies
Versamark ink
Ranger Silver Pearl embossing powder
Distress inks:  Lucky Clover, Cracked Pistachio, Seedless Preserves, Victorian Velvet
white card stock
Impression Obsession Everyday Phrase die

Sizzix Fold-along Owl shaped card in Purples

I sent this card to my sister recently.  I was very excited about this die until I received it.  I looked up a youtube tutorial on the die and learned maybe I should have watched the video before I purchased.  I recognized the same inadequacies as that crafter who did the video.  I am a little disappointed at having to use the reverse cut for the opposite side.  I heavily chalked the edges to cover up the differences.  I also had problems with the coating coming off and I only used this die for the one card!!!!  It is cute and I doubt the coating will make a significant difference but I don't think I have ever noticed that problem on dies before.

It is a super cute card but I am not so excited to get the other shapes as I was initially.

Ingredients:
Sizzix Thinlits Fold-a-long Owl
K & Co Recycled Purples

Quick Quotes Grid cards His & Her versions

Good morning Quick Quotes readers, Alicia blogging today with a cute way to use up some scraps. If you are like me you hate to throw out any scrap of beautiful paper like Quick Quotes papers.  This card is a great way to use up and show off some beautiful papers.  I simply used a 1.25" square punch to create a pile of squares.  I then started arranging them on my 4.25x5.5 card base.  I decided to mat the grid on a piece of designer paper cut 1/8" smaller than the card.  Then I chalked them up and placed them in the grid pattern.  Add a sentiment, mine are die cut words, and some embellishments!  Quick cards that use scraps and show of beautiful papers, you can't beat that!

Distress Worn Lipstick Congrats stencil card for Card a Day Challenge Blog

Good morning!  Today I am guest designing for the Card a Day Challenge blog July Stencil Extravaganza.  I made a card using shimmer mist and stencils and then embossed the sentiment on top of the background.  I matted the back ground on a black card base.  I usually have more layers, I feel this card is so so simple.

Here's the video tutorial I used to create my card:  Jennifer McGuire's easy Distress ink background.

Ingredients:
Distress Worn lipstick ink
Smooches Vanilla Shimmer mist
Mister Huey's V pattern stencil

Now on with the hop!

I pulled out an oldie for today's project.  I found one of the first Cricut carts I owned, Christmas Cards.  I think that is the name, it has been re-released by Cricut.  However, I must worn you this cartridge does not come with instructions.  I searched the web and found a couple of good videos on youtube that helped.  But with this cart you are basically winging it!  So I ended up not using all the layers.  I like how it turned out but the curve at the bottom might pose a problem.  I saw in some of the examples they had cut that part off, but I think it is an elegant touch.

I tried to find some really stunning and rich papers to use for this beautiful scene.  Most came from bins sorted by color so I don't really know the brands.  The background I believe is a Storytellers Club card stock.

I tied some twine around the necks for scarves.  I also embossed the tree shape with wood grain.

Ingredients:
Cricut cuts from Christmas Cards cart
misc papers and card stock
wood grain embossing folder
twine for the scarves
Quick Quotes Milk Chocolate chalking ink

I won this great stack from DCWV during an instagram giveaway.  I thought it was so neat.  I have had it on my desk to use ever since!  It is called Mercury Glass and it is the most beautiful stack!

I used this month's DCWV Stackaholic Challenge sketch to design my card.  I hated covering up those detailed cuts, but it turned out very nice if I do say so myself.

A close up:
